2020 Toyota Land Cruiser User Guide PDF Download – How often do you see modern pickups like the Volkswagen Amarok and Mercedes X-Class full-capacity? If the answer is “never” right and you are thinking of buying a pickup, then it may well be worth considering whether you will be better off with the Toyota Land Cruiser Utility instead.
2020 Toyota Land Cruiser
Land Cruiser Utility is a fancy SUV without a back seat, gizmos, and carpet, present as an exciting 4×4–the-van-a-whit that can carry equipment, tow three tons and go almost anywhere on the planet. It has other advantages too, because without needing to be able to bring a ton of pallets (it’s a standard feature among pickups) the Utility has a suspension that absorbs bumps, and never jumps, jumps or glittering on the road.
The Land Cruiser Utility is powered by a highly reliable 2.8-liter diesel with 175bhp, generating up to 37, 6mpg and an annual road tax fee of £250. You won’t race away from the lights but the Land Cruiser feels fast enough on the go, and it easily becomes one of the most delicate commercial vehicles to travel a long distance.
Its off-road ability and robust reputation will surely attract workers in difficult locations, which may be looking for Land Rover Defender’s successor. In addition to pickups, the only alternative here is the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV Commercial, which makes the Land Cruiser Utility unique.
2020 Toyota Land Cruiser MPG, operating costs & CO2
It is sluggish and leaning around corners, but the Land Cruiser Utility is in its off-road element. The 2.8-liter Diesel found under the hood of the Land Cruiser Utility is quite similar to the one in the standard SUV. So, despite being very resilient and reliable, fuel efficiency isn’t the best feature. However, the official figures 37.6 mpg are not too far away from the middle-class pickup, so the daily operational costs tend to feel similar. The enormous 87-liter fuel tank also means the Land Cruiser can be used in a long time between charging – useful if you are miles away from a gas station.
CO2 emissions range from 195-203g/km and the cost is £250 in the annual road tax. Due to its commercial status, this Toyota qualifies as a lightweight vehicle in the UK, so standard road tax brackets do not apply. This puts it on a parallel footing with the pickup and the van weighing up to 3,500 kg.
Toyota offers reasonable service prices nationally, and the Land Cruiser is well equipped to face a tough life. However, many off-road riders and pullers will reduce component life such as brakes and clutch, so it’s worth considering this in
2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Engine, Drive & performance
It may be large and quite powerful but the 2.8-liter diesel Utility with 175bhp has a significant 2.2 ton shift, even before you add the trailer or load in the back. It’s also made more for the low-end pull than the speed, so 0-62mph needs a hefty 12.1 seconds and its peak speed is 108mph. This performance level allows cars to follow the traffic without too much commotion.
There is no big win over pickups in a drag race, but the Land Cruiser really detonated them from the water in one thing-much more convenient. The bending suspension also means that the body roll and rudder are not clearly part of the driving experience, but the Land Cruiser always feels more comfortable at home than on the streets.
Depart from the road and the utility is almost unstoppable, with a tilt angle of 42 degrees before going upside down. It can sail 700mm of water, has 205mm ground clearance and is mainly constrained by standard tires that are biased roads.
2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Interior & Comfort
Without the need to carry a single ton of load at the back, the Toyota suspension could be much softer than its senseless rivals, and as a result, riding through the bumps is much smoother. Only the expensive Mercedes X-Class can match the Toyota-based SUV in this regard.
The benefits continue on the toll road, where the Land Cruiser Utility has a more comfortable seat and a smoother machine than any commercial vehicle on the market. That is the main selling point if you have a long commute between your site, or your home and office.
The steering wheel that adjusts to the reach and rake will help the driver of all sizes feel comfortable and the visibility is good. The flatten rear window means the over-the-shoulder display does not reveal enough like the standard model, but the large door mirrors and the mesh over the nets (between the front seat and the baggage compartment) mean that the rear view is still acceptable. Unfortunately, however, that parking sensors and rear-view cameras are not available.
While peeled from the Land Cruiser, Utility also gained better quality materials and interiors than most pickups and vans, thanks to the root of its SUV. Kit includes a six-speaker stereo with Bluetooth and DAB Radio, AC, cruise control, and a 12-volt charging socket.
2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Practicality & Boot Space
The long and short term versions of utilities are available, measuring each 4.395 mm and 4.840 mm from bumper to bumper. It has a huge impact on the cargo volume, which increased from 1,574 liters to 2,216 liters. The amount of weight that can be carried on the back also soared from 488kg to 756kg-an impressive number for an SUV, if not equivalent to a pickup or van.
The space offered is certainly enough for equipment and appliances, making utilities ideal for people like surveyors, contractors, veterinarians, and farmers. There are also advantages of valuables stored safely and dried in the vehicle, rather than in an open cargo bed.
The main disadvantage is the two-seat Toyota arrangement. Front velour seats are separated from the cargo area by the partition, with no other seats available as an option. This will restrict it to becoming a vehicle that works for many people, unlike a two-seat pickup with five seats marketed as ideal for working for a week and a family outing on weekends.
In the back, the ordinary carpet was replaced with a flat rubber-coated liner to make the cargo area more robust and easier to clean, and it was accessed by one-sided hinged truck tub. This makes loading heavy items easier than pickups, even if the hatchback will be better. While the short-wheelbase fits three doors, the long-wheelbase side door is useful to reach the front of the payload area. The doors do not provide the same level of access to a van sliding side door, so you can only insert the tool box and small box this way. The upper part of the mesh is also open on the passenger side, allowing for longer items to be loaded forward-features that will be very useful in shorter versions.
Both versions can pull the trailer without a 750 kg brake, or a 3,000 kg brake trailer. We can see utility Land Cruiser became very popular for transporting small loads around the UK.
2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Security & Reliability
With the development of more than 70 years, the reliability of Land Cruiser is legend. There are reasons why they are very popular in some of the harsher environments on the planet, and the UK road network shouldn’t pose much of a challenge if compared.
While some may be worried about the relative shortage of gadgets and luxuries installed on most other new cars, there is also little to worry about in utilities, with far fewer errors. For additional peace of mind, it also comes with a five-year/100,000-mile warranty.
Safety equipment includes Active Traction Control to help find clutches in slippery conditions, Hill Start Assist and Hill Descent Control. There are seven airbags in the short wheelbase (three in the long wheelbase), monitoring the tire pressure and the system to prevent the trailer from swaying out of control. Unfortunately Toyota Safety Sense equipment is not available, even as an option, especially as some of the latest pickup and van are now equipped with autonomous emergency braking as standard.
2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Price, value of money & option
While the standard Toyota Land Cruiser is a premium SUV with a suitable price, the Utility can compete with mid-range pickups with a flat footing. It costs around £27,000 (excluding VAT), so business customers who don’t need a ton of pickup load, and prefer SUVS than vans, should be tempted.
