2020 Mazda 6 Release Date – Mazda is doing Moves. The all-new, noticeably better 3, and upgraded 6 sedan and CX-5 crossover, make the Mazda lineup more appealing than ever. But now the company is lifting something a little out of the ordinary, but welcome: Build an inline-Six.
2020 Mazda 6 Release Date
In Mazda’s March 2019 investor report, first revealed by Jalopnik, the company quietly confirmed a new inline-six engine with SKYACTIV-X technology and an inline-six SKYACTIV-D diesel. This means that Mazda can join other manufacturers (Audi, BMW, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz) in helping revive the engine. Page 26 of the presentation outlines these inline-Six plans, as well as notes a few neat extras.
These extras include an extension of Mazro’s acclaimed KODO design language, as well as introducing a new mild-hybrid system, an EV platform, and a “great architecture” with mild-hybrid and PHEV capabilities. The “great architecture” promises the i-Activ all-wheel drive — though we suspect rear-wheel drive will come standard — and a “longitudinal engine layout.”
It’s all part of what 2020 Mazda 6 Release Date calls its “new generation lineup.” These products will roll out between 2020 and 2025 (allegedly), with Mazda 6 the first to arrive with a rear-wheel-drive platform, an inline-six , and hopefully a look like the amazing Vision Coupe concept pictured here. Although the delay of Mazda’s SKYACTIV-X engine in the US has us learning of the proposed timeframe.
Mazda will debut its 2.2-liter diesel engine in the U.S. as part of the 2019 CX-5 lineup, and next on the diesel transplant list is the 2020 Mazda6. Details are still poor on the 2020 Mazda6 diesel, but there is enough info on the CX-5 diesel to paint a near-complete picture.
Third-generation Mazda6 debuted in 2014 with a sharp look that helped usher in Mazda’s KODO design language. In 2018, it went through a Refresh that brought in a new radiator grille and LED headlights. These new looks remained the same in the 2019 model and we expect them to remain the same again in the 2020 Mazda6.
Inside, the 2018 refresh made a huge impact, bringing in a brand new Dashboard design, climate control interface, and new seats that deliver a higher comfort level. This rework gave Mazda6 a more premium look we expect it to remain the same when 2020 Mazda6 hits showrooms.
The current 2020 Mazda 6 Release Date base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that cranks out 187 horsepower. Buyers looking for more power can get a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-pot that delivers 250 HP on Premium fuel. We expect these engines to remain the same in 2020. We expect these engines to continue pairing with a standard 6-speed automatic transmission.
According to reports, what will change during 2020 Mazda6’s Hood will be an optional 2.2-liter diesel engine. There is no official information on its output, but the CX-5’s version of this engine produces 168 HP and 290 pound-feet of torque. Reports also show that this engine will pair with a six-speed automatic transmission, but there is also the gnawing of a six-COG manual. Fuel economy is the main reason for buying a diesel vehicle, but the numbers are not ready for the Mazda6 diesel. For reference, the CX-5 diesel is rated 27 miles per gallon City, 30 freeway, and 28 combined, and Mazda expects significantly better ratings in the Mazda6 diesel.
The IIHS has not fully tested the 2020 Mazda 6 Release Date, but the 2018 model was an IIHS top safety pick. This rating is due to the Mazda6’s rigid construction and standard auto emergency braking, Active Lane Control, blind-spot monitors and Adaptive Cruise Control. There is also an available surround-view camera on top trims. We expect these features and ratings to remain the same in the 2020 Mazda6.
2020 Mazda 6 Release Date and Price
There is no official Release Date for the 2020 Mazda 6 Release Date and its diesel variant. Keep an eye out for updates. With the only change being the diesel engine, we don’t expect big price changes from the 2019 model, which ranges from $ 24,720 to $ 36,020.
Nevertheless, these major changes could mean a move exclusive to the brand in terms of pricing. With the new inline-Six engine and rear-wheel drive, the 2020 Mazda 6 Release Date would compete more directly with cars like the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The current Mazda 6 starts at $ 23,800.
